 Pakistan cricketer Usman Shinwari announces retirement from red-ball cricket

Pakistan cricketer Usman Shinwari bid adieu to Test cricket as he announced his retirement on Twitter. The left-arm fast bowler took to his Twitter handle and announced his decision.

In fact, Shinwari played just a solitary Test match for the Pakistan cricket team. In his tweet, he had mentioned that he made a comeback from his back injury.

However, his doctors and physios advised him to resign from red-ball cricket. Shinwari also stressed the fact he quit the longest format to extend his career in limited-overs cricket.

He further added saying that he wants to avoid injuries in the future. Hence, resigning from the traditional format of the game is the only option left for him to prolong his cricketing career.

“ALHAMDULILLAH I have made my comeback again from a back injury and now I am absolutely fit but due to my Doctors and physio advises I have to leave Long format to avoid such injuries in future and prolong my Cricket career.

“I am Resigning from Red ball,” tweeted Usman Shinwari. His tweet went viral on social media. Usman Shinwari plied his trade for the Pakistan cricket team in 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is.

The left-arm pacer has taken 34 wickets in ODIs and 13 wickets in T20Is. He has been in and out of the national team set-up and has fallen out of favour with the national selectors.

Shinwari has plied his trade in 33 first-class matches. He has picked up 96 wickets in first-class cricket at an exceptional bowling average of 26.84 and a strike rate of 49.40.

Shinwari accounted for 2 five-wicket hauls in his first-class career. Usman Shinwari last played an international game for Pakistan in December 2019.

The 27-year-old pacer took just a solitary wicket in Test cricket. Usman Shinwari made his debut in 2013 but failed to cement a spot in the Pakistan cricket team.
