IPL 2022: Umpires have often come under fire for their poor decisions on the field in the IPL. Although quality umpires officiate the game, there are at times, they tend to make silly mistakes that prove to be costly.

The just-concluded game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore made the headlines for a wrong reason. Umpire Chris Gaffaney became the major talking point on social media.

The on-field umpire failed to give a wide before Marcus Stoinis was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. The all-rounder was seemingly angry at the umpire’s call as he yelled at him for his poor call.

The incident happened during the first ball of the 19th over when Josh Hazlewood delivered the ball a tad outside the off-stump. In fact, Marcus Stoinis already shuffled across the wicket early in the first place.

As a result, Josh Hazlewood pitched the ball a tad wide. In fact, the ball went beyond the tramline quite easily. However, the umpire doesn’t seem to be interested at all as he didn’t signal ‘wide’.

The on-field umpire thought that it was a hittable ball and considered it legal. Marcus Stoinis hid his emotions as he was seen smiling at the bowler and the umpire.

Marcus tried to explain that the ball was going beyond the tramline. On the very next delivery, Marcus Stoinis tried to move towards the left-hand side in the hope of getting room to play the shot.

As it turned out, he was bowled by Hazlewood. Soon after his dismissal, Marcus Stoinis unleashed a truckload of emotions. The all-rounder screamed at the umpire for not giving a wide. The video clip has gone viral.
